Benchmade has made the Griptilian in a smaller and a full-size version. The 551 Griptilian is the larger and somewhat thicker version that is also big enough for larger hands to provide space for four fingers at the orange Valox (FRN) handle. In spite of the larger dimensions, the weight is amazingly low. Yet the Griptilian is equipped with steel liners. For many people this knife will be an excellent knife for daily use.
The blade made of N680-steel gives a slim impression, also because of the sectioning in the steel. An axis-lock secures the blade when it is fully unfolded. It is just as easy for both left and for right-handed persons to open and close the knife with one hand.
